How much can a PDF be compressed?
It depends on the content. Scanned documents and image-heavy PDFs often shrink by 50–90% with strong compression. Text-only PDFs are usually already small and shrink less.
What is the difference between the compression levels?
Basic optimization rewrites the PDF structure without touching content, so text stays selectable. Medium and strong levels re-render each page as a compressed image, which gives much smaller files but makes text non-selectable.
